Rules and more rules
May 14, 2022Today I was out flying my drone, not over the Wolfforth Farmer’s Market, but in close proximity. It’s a strange world when it comes to drone laws. I can’t overfly the market because it’s illegal for me to do so over a public gathering, at the moment. I have to stand off away from the people. And it’s not that the FAA is concerned about people’s privacy. No, they are afraid that a drone will fall out of the sky and injure someone. It’s happened.
So the FAA has come up with a set of rules that would allow many drones to overly people. Someday soon I believe we will be able to do so. The laws already exist. It’s just that the drone manufactures have not complied with those laws yet. They are working on it though.
Then, of course, I think, “if I can’t fly above people, can I fly under them? Or at least below their heads? Well, of course the answer is no to that too, though I have been considering testing that law.
