About Jimmy Dunn, Photographer, Drone Pilot, Editor
My Love of Photography
My name is Jimmy Dunn and currently reside in Lubbock, Texas. When I was about 12 years old, a friend of our family had just got himself a new camera. After seeing me pitifully roaming around taking photos with my father's Polaroid, he took mercy on me and gave me his older Leica camera. It was still a fine 35-millimeter camera and it was just what I needed. It had no auto function and I was too poor for a light meter. Therefore, I had to figure out all about shutter speeds and apertures, and film. I had to guess what the setting would be according to the day's available light. Later, I became a high school photographer and continued my study of my favorite subject.
Egypt
It's a complicated story, with a lot of twists and turns, but I later became the webmaster for Egypt's Ministry of Tourism, creating the country's first web site. I also ended up becoming the main writer and photographer. I started out with film and ended up with professional digital cameras, and I very much loved both the photography and the writing. In fact, the website I designed was named by the World Tourism Association as one of the top 5 destination website in the world. Yet, after many years, the government of Egypt decided that Egyptians needed to do my job, which I couldn't really get upset about.
Now
These days I work with some of the most phenomenal photographic equipment in the air and on the ground to weave artistic stories in stills and videos. It's a passion but has run an advertising agency and a web company for several years, I am well suited to all sorts of photographic projects, from real estate to corporate promotion to events and even animal and human portraits or action sequences.
