A Country Home in Black and White
August 30, 2024Did another house shoot Monday out in the country near Anton, Texas. This is a newly constructed house and the second in a row that I have reshot because whoever took the original photos wasn’t really a trained photographer. Happens a lot and can delay a sale. Anyway, this house was a little odd because of all the black and white. All white walls, black and white tile in the bathrooms, etc. That’s usually a bit of a pain. Colors, or rather the different light sources producing the colors, are an architectural photographer’s nightmare. The sun produces blues that seep into almost every white wall, while incandescent light bulbs add yellows. Various light sources produce colors in photos that we don’t want biasing the true colors. Therefore, real photographers are always looking for ways to remove them. Thus, a lot of these photos actually look black and white even though there were a host of colors in the original photograph. I had fun with this. It would have probably been better if the house had contained some furniture and wall art. It would have added color, but the study in black and white was fun.
