Wineries of Lubbock, Texas
Llano Estacado Winery
In 1976, Llano Estacado Winery was established in southeast Lubbock County, Texas, while it was still a dry county. The state legislature passed a bill two years later permitting wine production in dry counties. The winery planted its first vineyard in 1978. It is, of course, the first and best-known winery in Lubbock and has received national recognition and many awards. They are located at 3426 East Farm to Market Road 1585, Lubbock, Tx
The winery offers about 71 different wine choices - something for every taste, from award winning high-status wines like Viviano, to dry and sweet everyday styles. Several different Texas wine styles are always available for sampling in the tasting room, with a knowledgeable staff to guide you through to find what you like. Along with Texas wine, there is also a large selection of gourmet foods (with everything from grape seed oil to fudge to marinara with mushrooms), wine accessories and wine themed gift baskets available in the wine shop. They also offer a wine club.
English Newsom Cellars
In 2013, Tommy and Jana English purchased Caprock Winery in Lubbock, Texas. Realizing the beauty and potential of this facility, they invested their efforts into bringing Caprock Winery back to a state-of-the-art production and processing center, as well as a premier event venue. The English’s began to renovate the building, the landscape, and added more estate vines consisting of Malbec and Tempranillo. However, a piece of the puzzle was still missing... a family who knew the wine industry. In January of 2018, the English’s had the opportunity to partner with Steve and Cindy Newsom, known for their quality Texas vineyards located in Hockley County. This partnership sealed the missing element in making English Newsom Cellars an award-winning producer of Texas wines. These two West Texas families have the work ethic, integrity and passion required to bring wine lovers the best Texas wines available from the premier facility in this area.
The winery is located at 408 E Woodrow Rd, Lubbock, Texas. It winery has a nice gift shop, a peaceful tasting room and they have a wine club. In addition, they also host events, including weddings, with several event halls.

Pheasant Ridge Winery
Pheasant Ridge Doesn't have the grand facade or the imposing gates of some wineries, and one must travel a few miles on unpaved roads to get to it. Nevertheless, I probably enjoyed photographing this winery more than any of the others so far. Undoubtedly, that's due to the friendly character who owns the place, who welcomed me and peppered me with questions. He's a pretty good photographer himself. What's more, dogs are very welcome here to their wine tasting room that is open on weekends.
Pheasant Ridge was started with a vineyard, planted by the Cox family after an intensive search of the High Plains for a site perfectly suited for growing French vinifera wine grapes – a terroir that would produce wines of bold flavor and character. Fifteen aces were planted in 1978, at that time the largest all vinifera vineyard in Texas. Hence, it's one of the oldest wineries in Lubbock, or actually, not far from Lubbock, being closer to New Deal.
They do often have entertainment as well as offering a wine club.
